I have an old fashiond ETA automatic wrist watch and have moisture under the crystal. Is there an easy way to get it out. No I can’t get the back off.

A:

I have that problem with my Seiko, I put in on a warm surface like the top of my hot water heater for several hours. That usually drives the moisture out.

A:

place it in a dry area, if you live in a humid area, it may take awhile on it’s own to release the moisture. Place in in front of your room cooling fan. OR You can use a hair dryer on it. The hair dryer will take moisture off the mirror after a shower in 2 mins or less.

If you can’t get the back off…you’re screwed. Sorry, the only way is to take it to a watch repair and get it dried out and then get them to replace the seal on the back (probably how the moisture got in in the first place

A:

First warm it up so the moisture is absorbed by the air inside the watch. Then, reduce the air pressure around the watch so that the air inside is “sucked” out. I realize this is tricky without sophisticated equipment. However, getting on an airplane will work or driving up high into the mountains.
Then when descending, you want the air that is going back into the watch to be dry. Enclosing the watch in a small box with baking soda is a good idea.

A:

Toss it in a bonfire and it will dry right up. It’s going to rust inside anyway.

A:

Try immersing it in a cup of baking soda overnight. It may draw out the water.
