I’m a dancer so I hate wearing shoes, especially bulky running sneakers. I’ve recently started going to the gym, mainly treadmill/elliptical & strength training. Can anyone recommend a sneaker that is lightweight and feels like you’re barefoot?

If you are really a light weight dancer you don’t need much cushioning. However, most sneakers are heavy and lack any support for running. Instead, take a look at the Nike Free or a racing flat or a light weight trainer. Of the three, racing flats are the closest to wearing no shoes. You’ll need to go to a running specialty store to find them.
Note, these shoes will work only if you are a biomechanically effecient runner. If not, wearing them for training may lead to an injury.

that would be boat shoes, or slim soled boating sneakers,, can fell the deck under your feet the soles are so thin,
    they are cheap too,
but remember a good arch support sneaker will alleviate most shin splints and ankle problems,
