don’t blame the shoes. I can wear converse while i drive with no problem at all. In fact I can wear any shoes including flip flops or even no shoes at all. I rest my heel on the floor and push the gas with the ball of my foot and toes. try it maybe it’ll work for you.

You just need to adjust to the different shoe (different thickness in soles, different shoe weight, ect).
Wear the same shoes when you drive and you will quickly adjust and it wont be a problem anymore…

Any good fitting walking shoe or cross-trainer should be fine, including Converse.
Never were flip-flops, or any open shoes, like sandals, they can be dangerous and catch on the brake pedal.
Never wear high heels, they can also be dangerous.
Flat soles, or ordinary heels (the height of the heel on a man’s regular dress shoe, are the best

The problem is more likely in the tension on the return spring fopr the accelerator, get a new one, costs 3 bucks or so, takes 2 min to change.
