The current PUMA codes used in the American Community Survey and Census 2000 are based on the Census 2000 boundaries. In the Census 2000 technical documentation, there exist state equivalency files associated with the 5% PUMS files. These contain all the information needed to crosswalk PUMAs to counties or metro areas.
