A few weeks ago I bought a SEIKO automatic wrist watch from an authorized shop in Malaysia but I forgot to ask them what the abbreviated words meant. Each three-letter word is in front of each date, for example, DOM 15 for today (September 15). Notably, this DOM is red while another for yesterday, that is, SAB, is light blue. I’m wondering if they’re the two days in a week, that is, Sunday and Monday. So what are they abbreviated from? And from what language?

    Seems like Italian:
    lunedì—Monday
    martedì—Tuesday
    mercoledì—Wednesday
    giovedì—Thursday
    venerdì—Friday
    sabato—Saturday
    domenica—Sunday

SEIKO is not an acronym (bummer..who doesn’t love a good acronym?!) ;c) It is short for “Seikosha” (Kintaro Hattori established this clock factory in 1892 in Ishiwara-Cho, Tokyo with only 15 workers).
