I have lower back pain but I want to run. What Nike model should I buy which is better to avoid lower back pain?

The following is the answer:

Answer by Clint
Don’t buy nike running shoes!!

Go to a store that specializes in running shoes and they will help you out with what kind of shoe is best for your type of foot.
Each person is different but Asics have never steered me wrong. neither have new balance. Mizuno are pretty good as well as Saucony(sp?)

Answer by Mr. M
I agree with Clint. Nikes are not good for running, they are good for looking Good! Aisics, addidas, and the running shoes that look the worst are usually the best. 4real

Answer by Daisy
It is best if you go to a sneaker store where they will measure your foot and look at it to give you a better sneaker. Every person has a different foot so cushion is needed in different places.

Hi,I did the following:

Question: If I have shin splints and I think I overpronate, should I buy heel cushion running shoes?
I have started running not too long agao and I have shin splints (mild pain). I think I overpronate. I also have arches that are more on the flatter side.

Should I buy running shoes that have cushioned heels (ex: Nike Shox Turbo V style)??? Or should I look for other features?

The answer in the following:

Answer by mrsdeli
Shin splints are when your muscle tears away from the bone. When you run the muscle bangs against the bone causing pain. The best way to correct it is to tape your shins. Take strips of medical tape about 1 1/2 inches and tape on an angle like if you are looking at a barber’s pole. Tape from top to bottom on an angle.

Answer by Abby
Shin splints are usually caused from over use, or too much to soon. I would recommend going to a running shoes store have them analysis your running gate and re comment for pronation if that is what you have. As far as the shin splints rest and ice. go to www.runnersworld.com and go to preventing injuries or google shin splints. there is some good advise on how to prevent and help them heal. ignoring them will cause you greater pain

Answer by lestermount
To know about your foot plant go to a good running store and have them look at your stride.
There are shoes made for different types of runners.
They may help.
This is not related to your shin splints, they are usually from running on hard surfaces, or being too tense, and not conditioned to running.

Stretch, massage, and ice can help.

Answer by snvffy
Shin splints are the result of muscle imbalance. Strong calves, weak shin muscles. To prevent them, lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Slowly pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Hold for 1 or 2 seconds, then repeat. Try to work up to 2 or 3 sets of 10.

Now that you already have the injury, it’s best to rest and ice them to relieve the pain. Flat feet don’t necessarily require lots of cushioning such as high-arched feet do, but it’s more about how you run and what shoe you feel best running in. Continue to do research on running sites and do some experimenting. A good runners’ store is your best resource.

Good Luck

Do you find what you need? Look here!

Question: Do you have to buy branded shoes for running a Marathon?
All people are talkings abt ASICs, Mizuno, Nike, New Balance & etc. How abt the ordinary shoes in your local stor that sell very cheap compared to the above? I heard that there is no different between them? Is that true? I wanted to buy my first pair of running shoes but confuse which one to buy. Can anyone help?

Thanks

The answer in the following:

Answer by Philip
Well whatever you get, make sure you are buying runners that have cushioning in the sole. If you run a marathon it’s gonna hurt your feet unless you got the proper shoes on.

Answer by lestermount
You need to wear good shoes.
Sometimes the off brand shoes do not last long so you are better off paying a little more for a brand name shoe.
The difference in shoes, like other things, is the quality, so if you can find a good shoe that feels good it is okay to wear.

Answer by whycantigetagoodnickname
When it comes to questions about running shoes I normally answer with this:

The best running shoes are the ones that fit YOUR feet and not my feet. This might sound obvious however many people will look at the brand and model (and looks) and make a decision before they even see if the shoe fits. This includes asking people for advice on running shoes – decision made before they see the trainers. (As an aside – would you buy a house or a car without seeing it?).

Everyone runs in a slightly different way, and are built slightly differently so this means that what fits me well won’t necessarily fit you. Most shoe manufacturers make their shoes to a different ‘last’ or former for the shoe – and that means that each make is slightly differently sized.

So really you have to go to a running shop and try a few pairs on from different manufacturers and see which one fits you well. Get the help of the assistant in the shop (it is what they are there for and if they serve you well then you have a good chance of getting your next pair there – good service really does count).

All the top brands will last you well, approximately 500 miles of running which sounds a lot but it is really three, 3 mile runs a week for a year. I would change my shoes every year (normally in January when the sales are on!!).

If you are just starting to run then I would try the first few runs with trainers that you have in the house before paying for new ones – just to make sure that you can actually run. Then when you have decided that running is for you then go for a new pair.

Now when it comes to the finances of running shoes, I reckon that for an activity, if I pay £10 an hour to take part in it then that is an OK rate (say, going to the cinema, £10 for a 2 hour film, that is good, bowling, about the same, drinks with mates is getting near £10 an hour and so on), and I look at it the same way with running shoes. OK the up front cost can be a lot but over time this works out to be a cheap activity, £50 shoes will go for 500 miles – that is 10p a mile run in them, well within my ‘budget’ of £10 an hour (you have to run 100 miles an hour to break the budget)….. Running is an inexpensive activity and it is worth paying for shoes that fit you well – and that does not mean to buy the most expensive, or the biggest brand name, just the best for you – and a trip to a good running shop will help you here and is what I would suggest.

Now for a marathon, with the training you are going to be doing, getting a new pair is a good idea (now or in a month or so) and this will last for your training and the marathon itself before they wear out. How long they last after that depends on how hard you have used them and how ‘heavy’ you land on your feet (not body weight – light runners can hit the ground hard, heavy runners can run with light feet for example)

So best advice I can give is to have a look in a running shop, have a budget in mind (and tell the assistant the top price you can pay), and get advice in the shop when you can try a few pairs on

Answer by Jordan Michel
adidas Men’s Marathon 10 Leather Running Shoe

its good quality and best shoes for running
The legacy of the ultra-light and stylish adidas Marathon continues, pushing you past the competition with the latest advances in premier adidas running technology. With an upper of full-grain leather, the adidas Marathon 10 running shoe will have you running in style and comfort.

The following is the answer:

Answer by Yeti
Neither are things you should use regularly for extended running workouts.

You’d be better off finding an alternative exercise for today rather than trying to use alternative shoes.

Answer by Apollenaire
I can’t see one day causing any damage.

Answer by Nike
Buy adidas Basketball Shoes & Save 50% Off Jordans Shoes

Answer by phatdude38
If you had to I would run in the Adidas shell tops since they used to be used for basketball back in the 80s. Neither has very good support for running hence the weak soles and minimal cushion. Make sure your heel does not slip as it can cause blisters and that you tighten the laces.

Q&A: Is it smart to buy running shoes to run in for track, 2-3 months before the season?
I think I will need a new pair of running shoes for track because i’ve had my other pair for over 100 miles at least. And I was wondering if it would be smart to buy a new pair now?

The answer in the following:

Answer by Chris
no just buy 2 pairs one for practice and others spikes for track then you can walk in those old shoes or a different pair

Answer by Angela
No.
You should buy a pair to practice in and at the end some days before the big day you should buy them!

Answer by Drunkenmaster
no

Answer by DomoArigato
Actually, most training shoes will last 400 miles + unless you run in racing flats. I assume you mean training shoes. So no it would not be smart to buy a new pair of trainers because you havent fully used your old ones.

For spikes you can buy them now, you shouldnt be doing that much training in them anyways until the season starts, plus you can get some good deals because the season hasnt started yet. Winter training should be spent logging miles and lifting weights

Answer by Lolhax
First off, have a pair of ordinary flat running shoes.

Don’t buy spiked shoes until about 2-4 weeks before your first meet, incase your feet grow. Run in em a few times to wear them in, but then leave them for meets only unless your coach says otherwise.

If you’re talking about spiked shoes you own right now, your fine unless your feet grow..

Answer by DosCentavos
Change out shoes every 300 miles. Your shoes are fine.

Answer by Matthew
If money isnt an option i would suggest getting some training shoes for the offseason now and then buy your competion shoes later because you dont want an injury and it is always smartest to be prepared. Right now i run apporx 4-5 times a week as training for XC at about 4-5 miles a day and i go through shoes at about a rate of a pair every month and a half.

Answer by Toshi
buy running shoes to run in for track, 2-3 months before the season
I suppose I’m just looking for something a little less athletic looking, if that makes any sense. Thanks for your help.

Q&A: Can anyone tell me if New Balance running shoes run true to size. I need a shoe for wide feet with high arches?
I live in a rural area and really need new running shoes like yesterday. So i was going order some over the internet. I usually wear Adidas or saucony for the wide toe box, but since i had kids and weight 15 lbs. heavier, my feet have spread and gone up a size. I have always had high arches and can’t wear most basic brands of shoe for that reason. Just looking for recommendations. Thanks.

The following is the answer:

Answer by Audrey C
i naturally have pretty wide feet with normal arches and as i was growing up my mom always bought me new balance shoes because they run really wide.
now i run cross country and the asics shoes my mom bought me are the best shoes i have ever ran in, they are wide but not too wide. they are called gel cumulus 10 i went to a store called running wild and they helped me find them, they run about a 1/2 smaller than what you would normally get. i got a 7 and 1/2 when i normally wear a 7.

Answer by you got answers, I got questions
I just got a pair of New Balance and had to go a full size larger. I make the time to take the trek (a two hour trek) to the shoe store 2x a year to get fitted and when I have the perfect shoe, I order the second pair off the web. It’s luck of the draw when buying online.
